I’ve thought about this as well. It’s a feather in the cap for amateur scouting and PD (both important = means people are doing their jobs well) and it certainly helps to have club control over these guys for a long time. I think that’s huge.

I wonder if it also lifts the spirits of the scouting & PD staffs. Being able to watch the guys you had a hand in developing help your organization is tremendously rewarding. And without those players, who are the organizational role models? Whose pictures are on the walls of the minor league facilities?
